It’s just pocket change!

It’s just pocket change!

A father in China was able to pay for a car for his son using only pocket change.

On August, 15th, 2021, the man entered the dealership with 17 bags of coins totalling 51,000 yuan ($7,872). It took more than 20 employees and 3+ hours to count all of it.

Ms Chen, a member of staff at the store, said that the man sells biscuits and flour. She also joked that she had cramps in her hands afterwards.

Coin you Believe IT?

If you thought this is an isolated incident…well:

In 2015, a Chinese man paid for his new car using 660,000 coins and 20,000 low value banknotes.

The reason?

Mr Gan explains that he paid in cash because he had amassed a huge amount of small denomination coins and notes through the petrol station where he works. “As our station is in the suburbs, there are very few banks. So we didn’t deposit the coins and decided to use them to buy a car for our company,” he says.
